Reasons to adopt a Rescue Dog: A rescue dog is likely already housebroken and may even have training. Puppies need frequent potty breaks, lots of attention even after midnight. With a rescue dog you get to sleep all night. Puppys chew, almost everything. Rescue dogs are usually past that stage. Puppies need frequent trips to the VET and are very susceptible to Parvo and other puppy diseases and parasites. Rescue dogs are already vaccinated and neutered/spayed. A rescue dog is an instant companion, usually a great match. What you see is what you get. No waiting to see what develops. Rescue dogs KNOW they are in better surroundings and BOND very well with their "rescuer", becoming very affectionate and attentive. New owners, too, always remember how they "saved" their dog. Rescue dogs are generally high quality, being selectively brought into a rescue organization. Some are accepted from someone who bought them impulsively from a good breeder without careful consideration of the time and care required of a dog that needs to be with people. |
